Instructions
- Prepare the bread with spreads: Onto one side of one slice of the bread, spread the garlic and herb spreadable cheese. Onto one side of the other slice of bread, spread the fig preserves evenly.
- Assemble the sandwich: Arrange 2 slices of Brie on top of the spreadable cheese. Next, layer the apple slices in a single, non-overlapping layer over the Brie. Place the remaining 2 slices of Brie on top of the apple slices. Then carefully invert the bread with fig preserves onto the Brie, so the fig side faces down, completing the sandwich.
- Butter the bread: Divide the softened butter evenly between the outer surfaces of both slices of bread. Spread it thoroughly to ensure even browning during grilling.
- Grill the sandwich – first side: Heat a medium skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook until the bottom is browned and crisp, about 3-4 minutes.
- Grill the sandwich – second side: Flip the sandwich over and reduce the heat to low. Continue cooking until the second side is browned, about 4-5 minutes, to prevent burning while allowing the cheese to melt.
- Melt the Brie inside: Maintain the heat on low and keep flipping the sandwich every minute or two to ensure even melting. Continue this for another 5-6 minutes, until the Brie inside is very melted and the bread remains tender and golden.
