Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh raspberries
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- Simmer Raspberries: In a medium saucepan, combine the raspberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Heat over medium heat until the mixture begins to gently simmer, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar and release the raspberry juices. Continue simmering for about 5 minutes until the raspberries are soft and the sauce is slightly thickened.
- Blend Until Smooth: Remove the saucepan from the heat. Use an immersion blender, or transfer the mixture to a blender, and blend until the coulis is smooth. Strain the sauce through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the seeds for a silky texture, if desired. Let cool before serving or refrigerate until needed.
Notes
- Use fresh or thawed frozen raspberries according to availability.
- Adjust sugar quantity to taste depending on the sweetness of the raspberries.
- Straining the coulis is optional but recommended for a smoother sauce free of seeds.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- Can be frozen for up to 3 months in a freezer-safe container.
