This Greek Layer Dip is a fresh and flavorful appetizer featuring layers of creamy hummus, tangy tzatziki, and crisp Mediterranean vegetables topped with feta cheese and a zesty olive oil drizzle. Perfect for parties or casual snacking, it pairs wonderfully with pita chips, fresh vegetables, or bread.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Layers

  • 10 oz original flavor prepared hummus
  • 5 oz tzatziki

Vegetables & Toppings

  • 12 roma tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cucumber, chopped
  • 56 peperonchini peppers, sliced
  • 1/4 cup kalamata olives, sliced
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup feta cheese, crumbled

Seasoning

  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp Greek seasoning

Instructions

  1. Spread the hummus layer: On a mostly flat platter or plate, spread the entire container of hummus out in a thin, even layer to form the base of the dip.
  2. Add the tzatziki layer: Spread about half of the tzatziki container over the hummus layer in a thin layer, leaving approximately a 1/2 inch border of hummus visible around the edges for contrast and structure.
  3. Layer the vegetables and feta: Evenly distribute the chopped roma tomatoes, cucumbers, sliced peperonchini peppers, kalamata olives, chopped green onions, and crumbled feta cheese on top of the tzatziki layer, ensuring each layer has a small border for visual appeal.
  4. Drizzle olive oil and seasoning: In a small bowl, combine the extra virgin olive oil with the Greek seasoning. Drizzle this mixture over the top of the layered dip, allowing it to drip down the sides and settle onto the hummus base for added flavor and moisture.
  5. Chill before serving: Place the layered dip in the refrigerator and chill for up to 3 hours to allow the flavors to meld and for a refreshing serving temperature.
  6. Serve: Serve chilled with pita chips, pita bread triangles, cucumber slices, bell pepper strips, or other fresh dippers of your choice and enjoy!

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh vegetables and high-quality feta cheese to enhance flavor and texture.
  • You can adjust the quantity of peperonchini peppers depending on your preferred spice level.
  • This dip can be made a few hours ahead and stored in the refrigerator, but avoid adding fresh herbs until serving for optimal freshness.
  • Try experimenting with different types of olives or adding a sprinkle of fresh herbs like dill or parsley for variation.
  • If Greek seasoning is unavailable, use a mix of oregano, garlic powder, and a hint of paprika as a substitute.
