Brownie Base
- 1 box brownie mix (plus ingredients required on the box: usually eggs, water, and oil)
- 1 cup crushed graham crackers
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Toppings
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped or chocolate chips
- Prepare Graham Cracker Crust: Combine crushed graham crackers with melted butter in a bowl. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of a greased baking pan to form the base layer of your brownies.
- Mix and Pour Brownie Batter: Prepare the brownie mix according to the package instructions, then pour the batter evenly over the graham cracker crust in the pan.
- Bake Brownies: Place the pan in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25-30 minutes until the brownies are set but still moist in the center.
- Add Chocolate and Marshmallows: Remove brownies from the oven and immediately sprinkle chopped chocolate or chocolate chips evenly over the top. Then, scatter mini marshmallows generously over the chocolate layer.
- Broil to Toast Marshmallows: Switch the oven to broil on high and place the pan close to the heating element. Broil for 1-3 minutes, watching closely, until the marshmallows are golden brown and toasted. Remove from oven promptly to prevent burning.
- Cool and Serve: Let the brownies cool slightly before cutting into squares. Serve warm for the best gooey texture.
Notes
- Watch the marshmallows carefully when broiling as they can burn quickly.
- You can substitute the semi-sweet chocolate with milk chocolate or dark chocolate depending on your preference.
- For extra gooeyness, add a few chocolate chips under the marshmallows before broiling.
- Use a metal baking pan for best broiling results as glass pans may break under high heat.
- Allow brownies to cool completely to allow easier slicing and cleaner edges.
