Dough
- 200 g self-raising flour
- 100 g Greek yoghurt
Spicy Garlicky Coating
- 1 tbsp chilli flakes (gochugaru recommended for a finer texture)
- 1 tbsp garlic flakes or granules
- 1 pinch sea salt
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Dipping Sauce
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp sriracha sauce
- Prepare the dough: In a bowl, combine the self-raising flour and Greek yoghurt. Mix with a spoon until a rough dough forms. Transfer the dough to a floured, clean surface and knead for about 2 minutes until it becomes soft and bouncy. Add a little more flour if the dough sticks to your hands. Cover the dough and set it aside to rest for 10 minutes.
- Make the coating: While the dough rests, mix together the chilli flakes, garlic flakes, sea salt, sugar, and black pepper on a plate or in a shallow bowl to create the spicy garlicky coating.
- Shape and coat the dough balls: Slice the rested dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball. Coat each dough ball thoroughly in the spicy garlicky mixture, ensuring they are well covered on all sides. Repeat until all balls are coated.
- Air fry the bread bites: Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (356°F). Place the coated dough balls into the air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding. Air fry them for 8 minutes until golden and cooked through.
- Prepare the dipping sauce: In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise and sriracha sauce. Mix well until smooth and creamy.
- Serve: Remove the bread bites from the air fryer once done. Serve them warm with the Sriracha mayo dipping sauce for a delicious and spicy snack experience.
Notes
- If the dough is too sticky, add a little more self-raising flour while kneading.
- You can adjust the amount of chilli flakes to control the spice level to your preference.
- Gochugaru chilli flakes are recommended for their fine texture and mildly smoky flavor, but any chilli flakes will work.
- These bread bites are best served fresh and warm from the air fryer.
- For a gluten-free version, substitute self-raising flour with a gluten-free baking blend.
- If you don’t have an air fryer, these can alternatively be baked in a conventional oven at 180°C for 12-15 minutes.
