Marinade and Sauce
- 1/2 cup hot sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Chicken and Cooking
- 4 chicken breasts, pounded thin
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2–3 green onions, thinly sliced
- Prepare the marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together the hot sauce, sour cream, ketchup, and honey. Add paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper, then whisk again until well combined to create a spicy-sweet sauce.
- Marinate the chicken: Pour half of the prepared sauce over the pounded thin chicken breasts. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 2 hours to allow the flavors to infuse the meat.
- Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the marinated chicken breasts and cook for 5-7 minutes per side until browned and fully cooked through.
- Heat the remaining sauce: Pour the remaining half of the sauce into a small saucepan and warm it over medium heat until heated through.
- Serve: Spoon the warmed sauce over the cooked chicken breasts and garnish generously with the sliced green onions. Serve immediately and enjoy your Spicy-Sweet Chicken Diablo!
Notes
- For best results, pound chicken breasts evenly to ensure uniform cooking.
- Adjust the amount of hot sauce according to your preference for spiciness.
- Leftover sauce can be refrigerated and used as a dip or condiment.
- Serve with rice or a side of steamed vegetables to complete the meal.
- Marinating time can be extended up to 4 hours for deeper flavor infusion.
