These Tiramisu Truffles are an indulgent and bite-sized twist on the classic Italian dessert. Made with mascarpone cheese, espresso-soaked ladyfinger crumbs, and dusted with cacao powder, they combine creamy and coffee flavors into a rich, soft, and delightful treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Mixture

  • 1/3 cup mascarpone cheese, preferably at room temperature
  • 12 savoiardi biscuits (ladyfingers), about 3.5 oz / 100g
  • 3 tablespoons brewed espresso coffee, cooled
  • 3 teaspoons sifted powdered sugar

For Coating

  • Cacao powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Brew Espresso: Brew 3 tablespoons of espresso coffee and allow it to cool completely to prevent melting the mascarpone when combined.
  2. Crush Ladyfingers: Blitz the savoiardi biscuits in a blender or food processor until they reach a fine powder consistency, resembling coarse flour.
  3. Mix Cream Base: In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese and sifted powdered sugar. Add the cooled espresso and mix thoroughly to create a smooth cream mixture.
  4. Combine Mixture: Add the crushed ladyfingers to the cream mixture. Using a rubber spatula, fold the ingredients together until well combined, forming a thick, cookie dough-like batter.
  5. Shape Truffles: Take a teaspoon of the mixture and roll it between your palms into a smooth ball. Place the balls onto a plate. Repeat to get around 10 evenly sized truffles.
  6. Chill: Place the truffle balls in the refrigerator and let them set for at least 1 hour. This firms up the exterior while keeping a soft interior. For a firmer texture, chill longer.
  7. Coat with Cacao: Place cacao powder in a small bowl. Roll each chilled truffle in the cacao powder until fully coated. Arrange on a serving plate and enjoy your Tiramisu Truffles!

Notes

  • Room temperature mascarpone blends better and yields a smoother mixture.
  • If espresso is not available, use strong brewed coffee as an alternative.
  • Ensure espresso is fully cooled to prevent curdling the mascarpone.
  • For firmer truffles, refrigerate overnight.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Optional: Add a splash of coffee liqueur for extra flavor.
